27.5" 1500 Watt Ebike Conversion Kit

Recieved in seeming good condition. Plugged in all components.. when trying to turn on screen flickered on and then off immediately. All connections double checked. Full charge on battery, key on, power verified to controller. Will not power up, screen won't even flicker now. So far area 13 has asked for video and pics, say they will help. I have been a customer for a few years, started when they were still Bolton. 1st time I've had a problem... if this is resolved I'll continue being a loyal customer..I have more bikes to build for myself and my wife, and friends to go riding with

I bought this kit to replace a bent rear wheel on my Rad City 5+ when I learned RAD wanted $600 to replace rear wheel assembly. It was a pretty painless swap experience. The stock Pedal Assist Sensor is compatible as are the brake cutoffs. The axle diameter on this kit is slightly larger than the RAD stock wheel. I had to grind out the stock torque arm and torque arm washers with a round file. I reused the stock brake disk as the provided one is a smaller diameter. I had to shim the rear tire with a couple washers for alignment. The stock battery connector needed to be cut off and replaced with the provided battery connector. None of these modification were difficult if you've got the tools.

I contacted Area 13 several weeks ago when my Rad City 5+ High Step took some damage to the rear rim. RAD refused to sell me just the rim for a rebuild and I found these guys through Reddit selling an upgrade kit for less than RAD wanted to charge for just the rear wheel assembly. The Area 13 staff answered my many many many questions regarding compatibility concerns via email. Kyle (of YouTube fame) responded directly to me. The kit arrived in a timely fashion and I'm in the process of converting my RAD City 5+ to a 1500 W powerhouse. If I have one minor gripe it is that the kit did not come with any M14 torque arm washers or serrated flange nuts (M14-1.5) that go with the threaded axle. This stuff was hard to find locally but easy to source online. (The Rad City 5 is M12 hardware and I couldn't reuse it.) The Peddle Assist Sensor and Brake lever cutoffs appear to be directly compatible with the RAD parts meaning I didn't need to tear out my existing PAS or switch from the stock Hydraulic to Cable brakes to have brake lights and motor cutoffs. The Area 13 YouTube channel is full of great resources that gave me the confidence to attempt this upgrade as a novice bike mechanic. If this kit had the axle torque arm/nut hardware included it would be a solid 5 stars.
