Rad Rover 6+ Upgrade Kit V2.1 - 6 plus

After doing som research Aeros 13 seem like the place to order the kit form. When the first controller showed up it worked and was working as it should. Once I installed the screen the device did not even power back up. Contacted area 13 and they sent out another controller. Once the second controller showed up it didn’t look complete. The wire that they use for configuring the controller unit was not covered like the first one. It looked not complete. So I tested the unit and it had error codes. I called again and got another controller sent out. The third controller finally arrive and when tested it ran perfectly no errors. The customer service is excellent even though it took 3 different units. The upgrade is awesome. It added so much torque and I’m able to get to top speed quicker. I would recommend this upgrade.

I researched , I called asked questions as the code 21 is everywhere on you tube and the net only to find the company knows the problem but doing moth in g to help those with it . That said the area 13 upgrade is amazingly the answer to the problem as well adding more power to the bike ! The bike shop after installing said they would recommend this upgrade to anyone with the dreaded code 21 ! Thanks for doing the right thing area 13 !!!

After 2.5 years of light service my stock controller failed - it showed 0% on the battery and wheels didn't move. After talking to RadPower support (or what they call it) I decided that not a single dime of my money will ever go to them again. So, after seeing excellent Area 13 YouTube video and researching a bit, I ordered their Upgrade Kit. The kit arrived promptly, instructions are clear, everything I needed is included. I wish there's a mounting padding includes to fit the controller nicely on the vertical tube, but that can be improvised or 3D printed (any links to STL?). The cables are a bit difficult to tack nicely, but that's how it goes anyway. When it comes to settings, instructions are clear. I set max current to 25A, and still get plenty of power. The Assist settings I have are: 01=25% 02=32% 03=40% 04=50% 05=75% 06=100% 7-10=0% Keep in mind that 06 corresponds to Level 5 on the display. I set "Slow Start" to 1, as 2-second delay for Assist start was way too slow. Be careful when testing, it takes time to get used to the new controller "character". The Assist works differently from the original, it just senses the pedals rotating and put fixed power to the motor. Original seemed to sense pedaling effort and felt more natural. Overall, great buy - and I hope it will last.

Love the extra power but something overheats and shuts down the whole thing. If I remove the battery and replace it, I can restart it.

This 2.1 upgrade for the RAD Rover 6+ is perfect! It gives this heavy bike the power and the features it should have had in the first place. The display is also bright and sharp with features that are not on the stock controller. Totally worth it. Just make sure you follow the settings recommended in the installation instructions, they are not set that way by default.

The stock controller is junk. This is a great one to replace it with when it breaks. And gives you a lot more speed and power
