Brand New Version as of September 2023!

The steel has been upgraded to 51crV4 with a black zinc plating.  This means the tool is stronger and more resistant to corrosion.

We still recommend using a penetrating lubricant prior to removing freewheels as many have been seized on after years of use.

PLEASE READ FULL DISCRIPTION BEFORE ORDERING. CUSTOMER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR RETURN SHIPPING AND A 10% RESTOCKING FEE.

Having trouble removing a pesky freewheel on a Bafang 750 watt motor?  Due to the large motor plug, standard tools just don't work!  We've taken on the challenge and decided to make our own.

UPDATE:  To keep up with demand and maintain quality we have moved production of these tools to a specialized supplier overseas.

Works on both Shimano and DNP FreeWheels.

Flats are designed for a 23mm wrench.

The first tool Area 13 shipped to me in New Zealand went missing somewhere in transit. I contacted them about the non-delivery and they straightaway said they would ship a replacement via DHL which arrived promptly. Great service - thank you.

The freewheel did not want to come off. I applied some break free and let it set for a day. I was then able to loosen the freewheel. In the process the tool was slightly altered and I was unable to remove it. So I gently filed the peaks of nut until the tool came free.

    New version ?

Your tool worked exactly the way you said it would. That freewheel cassette was so stuck, I had to jammed the wheel against an heavy trailer and use both hands to break it loose. The tool did not slip or bend. A little pricey but worth it. Cheers

I was able to take the freewheel of, but in the process of doing that I damaged the tool. I had to put so much force, even though I soked it in penetrative oil, that it bended.

I ordered it to see if it would fit over the nut on the motor for the Himiway Big Dog freewheel. Unfortunately, it did not.

I have not used it yet. The freewheel is still in good shape, I will give it a year perhaps, before replacing it. I, however noticed an excellent workmanship in fabricating of this this tool. The splines are cut cleanly and although they are shallow one feels the sharpness of them ensuring their good hold. Good luck with your business. Cheers. W.L.
